How do I obtain a library card?

Anyone living within the State of Texas may qualify for a library card upon completing the required application form. Proof of residency is required. Children should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. For more information and application cards, contact the Circulation Desk at (817)616-3760.

What can I do with a library card?

Richland Hills Public Library has reciprocal borrowing agreements with the cities of North Richland Hills, Watauga, Hurst, Bedford, Euless, Benbrook, Burleson, Keller, Fort Worth and Haltom City. Each library has its own borrowing policy, but Richland Hills resident patrons may borrow from each of these libraries free of charge. The library is now linked with the Fort Worth, Haltom City, Watauga, Burleson, Benbrook and Keller public libraries, giving our patrons access to over 2,000,000 titles. With 3 day-a-week.

How long is the loan period?

Most materials may be checked out for three weeks and returned inside the library or the book drop located on the north side of the library. DVDs may be borrowed for one week with a limit of 3 per card. Renewals can be made over the phone, on the coputer or in person.

How much are the fines and fees?

If you owe a fine or have materials overdue, your borrowing privileges may be suspended. Once all fines have been paid and materials have been returned, your privileges will be reinstated. Books and other audio materials are .15 per title per day if late. Videos overdue are $1.00 per day.

Can I place an item on reserve?

Yes. You may place on reserve any item in teh library consoritum by phone or computer. You will be called when the material comes in.

Can I get references via the telephone?

Yes. You may call the Richland Hills Public Library for quick information and answers to all types of questions.

What children services are provided?

Richland Hills Public Library has an area for children from preschool age to early teens. Staff is available to assist in this area. Story times are offered throughout the year. The Summer Reading Club is a highlight for all children through middle school. Children read and participate in special events and are awarded certificates upon completion of the program. Special incentives add to the fun.

What community services are provided?

The Richland Hills Library has popular magazines, audio books (talking books) , closed-caption videocassettes and DVDs, large print books, a photocopier, internet access, printing and wifi.

What is "Friends of the Library"?

The Friends of the Richland Hills Public Library sponsor various activities, library projects and programs, coordinating volunteer efforts, and conducting the annual book sale. Donations of used books for the sale are solicited and appreciated. New members are welcome and encouraged to join this library support network of people from around the community.

Memorial and honorary gifts can be donated through the Friends of the Library. All gifts are acknowledged with appropriate card and attached gift plate. For information more information about Friends of the Library, call (817) 616-3762.

What is the Library Advisory Board?

The Library Advisory Board is appointed by the City Council from interested area residents. Meetings are held in accordance with the Open Meetings Law.

The Richland Hills Public Library houses a collection of over 40,000 books, magazines, CDs, audio books, and videos.

Programs are offered by the staff of the Library and the Library Advisory Board, which include book reviews, adult, and children story telling, and musical programs.
