Collection Days

  • Tuesdays and Fridays for garbage collection
  • Fridays for recycle collection

Garbage Container Placement

Garbage containers should be placed at the curb no earlier than 7:00 p.m. the evening before collection, nor later than 7:00 a.m. the day of  collection.  Empty cans should be removed from curbside as soon after collection as possible and no later than the following day.

Garbage must be containerized in a can, bag or box which is securely closed to prevent the scattering of the contents and to render the contents inaccessible to insects, rodents, and other animals.  The containers must not be larger than 33 gallons and weigh no more than 50 pounds. SEE ACCEPTABLE GARBAGE PAGE FOR DETAILED INFORMATION.

Recycle Bin Placement

Recycle items should be placed in the 18-gallon recycle bin provided by Allied Waste/Republic Services, these bins are available at Richland Hills City Hall during regular business hours. Recycle bins should be placed at the curb at 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled service day. If the resident has more recycling than will fit in the container, please place in a paper grocery bag, as they are recyclable as well. If a plastic garbage bag is used, the trash collectors will collect it as trash and the recycling effort will be wasted. Empty bins should be removed from curbside as soon after collection as possible and no later than the following day.

Bulk Waste Collections

Richland Hills hosts 4 BULK WASTE COLLECTIONS per year.

PLACEMENT OF BULK WASTE: Per City Code, Placement of Bulk Waste For Collection Shall Not Exceed 36 Hours Prior To The Scheduled Pick-Up Date (dates posted above).

Bulk Waste Placed Out For Collection Prior To The 36 Hour Period Will Be Subject To Citation.

Bulk waste must be placed on the curb by 7am on the Monday of the scheduled collection week. Residents should be aware it takes approx. 5-6 days for Allied/Republic staff to pick up the entire city. We are unable to provide specific
days/times in which the collectors will be in neighborhoods, the greater amount of debris placed out for collection, the longer it takes the crews to complete the collection process. ALL ITEMS MUST BE PLACED OUT BY 7AM ON MON-DAY, if the collection truck has collected on a street, they will not come back for items that are placed after they have completed that street. Should a resident have an extraordinary amount of brush the street collectors will schedule a
grappler truck to that address to collect the large debris.

Acceptable bulk waste: Furniture; appliances (no Freon allowed); small tree limbs & tree trimmings; brush;
household items; bagged clothing; TV's;outdoor furniture & toys; fence panels & posts; etc.

NON-Acceptable bulk waste: Construction materials; concrete; rock; commercial waste; hazardous waste such as
paints; fertilizers; pool chemicals; yard chemicals; medications; Freon; large un-cut trees, limbs and stumps,
