The City only accepts completed applications and only when a specific employment notice of a job vacancy 
is posted. If you wish to be considered for future positions, you must submit a new application for each position.

Important Information for Applicants

  • All positions are open until filled. This means that the hiring manager can choose to stop the collection of applications at the point that he/she is ready to begin the interview process. If no candidates are selected, the position may be posted again.

  • For positions requiring a resume, a separate completed application will also be required.

  • Length of time for the review process will be determined based on number of applications received, schedule and priority needs for filling the position, however it is estimated that this process may generally take 1-5 days.

How do I learn about Job Opportunities?

Details about current job openings can be found on the city’s website by clicking City Job Posts link on the previous page. You may also call Human Resources at 817-616-3812 or stop by City Hall and ask to look at the job listing.

How do I apply?

Applications are accepted only for current openings (Police and Fire applications are accepted at any time). Applications are available at the Human Resources Office or may be downloaded from the website. Some positions may require cover letter, resume and additional references; follow the guidelines provided with each posting. For positions requiring a resume, a separate completed application is also required.

How long does it take after I submit my application before I’m called for an interview?

Length of time depends on the length of time needed to advertise the vacancy, the number of applications and the time required to review. Applications are typically reviewed by Human Resources after the closing date. In some instances, we will review applications as they are received and schedule interviews as appropriate.  Only complete applications and those meeting the minimum qualifications as indicated in the announcement will be forwarded to the Department Director. Length of time for the review process will be determined based on number of applications received, schedule and priority needs for filling the position, however it is estimated that this process may generally take 10 business days. Department Directors will review the applications and determine who to contact for an interview. Directors will examine the role description and critical skill sets needed in determining who is contacted for an interview.

How long are applications kept on file?

Once the position is filled, applications are moved to storage and no longer considered active for other open positions. Candidates interested in employment with the city must complete a new application for each position. Applications are accepted for fire and police positions at any time and these applications will be held for one year.
