Chief of Police
Chief Childress began her career with the City of Richland Hills in 1970 as a Public Safety Dispatcher. Since then she has progressed through the ranks and in 1983 became the first woman in Tarrant County to attain the rank of Chief of Police. During her tenure Chief Childress has implemented numerous innovative programs including a High Intensity Sex Offender Monitoring Program, a New Resident Outreach Program, radKids, a Citizen Police Academy, CrimeReports, and a student intern program. Her philosophy is that although Richland Hills is a small community, its citizens and visitors are no less deserving of quality police services, and she strives to provide that kind of service in all that the police department does.
