South Grapevine Highway Strategic Plan

The South Grapevine Highway Corridor runs along Grapevine Highway south of Loop 820 including parts of Rufe Snow and Glenview Drives. Once a regional draw for all of Northeast Tarrant County, the South Grapevine Highway Corridor has great potential for redevelopment and reinvestment. The Cities of Richland Hills and North Richland Hills have joined together to develop a strategy that will lead to increased investment and a well-served market.

Prepare Strategies for the Corridor which produce tangible results and information which will lead to careful investments and a well-served market

Support multiple modes of access (vehicular, pedestrian, transit)
Increase retail spending
Improve opportunities for housing
Reposition underused properties for redevelopment
Prepare a long-term investment strategy for the corridors

Status:

The South Grapevine Highway Corridor Strategy is complete. The Richland Hills and North Richland Hills City Council have signed an interlocal agreement adopting the South Grapevine Highway Corridor Strategy. Committees have been formed and are in the planning stages to begin implementation of the top strategies decided upon by both city councils.

Main Street Program:

The Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB) initiated a Storefront Improvement Program along Baker Boulevard. Under the program, the EDAB will match funds paid by businesses on storefront improvements. The objective is a "Main Street" look for Baker Boulevard, helping attract commercial development to the City.

Industrial Park News:

Work was completed in 2002 on a new 40,000-square foot warehouse in Richland Hills. The warehouse is located within walking distance of the Richland Hills Trinity Railway Express (TRE) Station and as a result the warehouse is expected to be leased or purchased. Additionally, the occupancy of Midway Business Park stands at 93% and the owners plan to spend $200,000 in landscaping and signage improvements to the 1.5 million square foot park in 2002-2003.
