Departments

Public Works : Streets and Drainage
 Street and Drainage Division

The Street & Drainage Division is responsible for maintenance and construction of City streets and drainage within public right-of-way and easements, and for maintenance of the Big Fossil Floodway. In addition to maintaining the City's streets, the Street Section is responsible for all City signage, painting of all school crosswalks, and any tree limbs obstructing traffic. The Drainage Section is responsible for mowing, weed trimming, trimming trees, removing debris and patching any concrete drainage structures needing repairs. The Drainage Section also maintains the flood pumps at the levee.

Within the City, there are 50 miles of streets, 92 miles of curb and gutter, 35 school crosswalks, 8,000 feet of concrete drainage channels, 5,600 feet of nonconcrete drainage channels, and countless miles of underground storm pipe.

Please note that drainage ditches are not built for trash disposal. Please do not dispose of leaves, grass clippings, trash, debris into open drainage systems. This will impede the flow of water into the underground system.
