 JUVENILE INFORMATION

Juveniles

Juveniles (under age 17) are required to appear with a parent or guardian before the Municipal Judge. A parent or guardian who fails to appear with a juvenile on their scheduled court date may be charged with a separate misdemeanor offense. Juveniles who fail to appear in court may have an additional charge of failure to appear filed against them and their driver's license may be suspended. A child and parent required to appear before the court have an obligation to provide the court in writing with the current address and residence of the child. The obligation does not end when the child reaches age 17. On or before the seventh day after the date the child or parent changes residence, the court shall be notified of the current address in the manner directed by the court. The obligation to provide notice terminates on discharge and satisfaction of the judgment or final disposition not requiring a finding of guilt.

Teen Court Teen Court is a voluntary program for students age 13-18 that received a citation. Offenders are allowed to resolve their citation by performing community service and participating in Teen Court. If the offender successfully complets the program the citation will be dismissed.
