Persons under the age of 17 must appear before the judge with a parent or guardian for any Class "C" misdemeanor?
The court must issue a failure to appear citation to any parent or guardian summoned to appear before the judge with a juvenile charge with a Class "C" Misdemeanor that does not appear.

What happens with a failure to display driver’s license charge?
Citations for failure to display driver’s license can be dismissed with a $10 fee upon providing proof that you had a valid DL at the time you were cited.

Can an expired driver’s license, registration, or inspection be dismissed?
Yes! Citations for expired driver’s license, registration, or inspection can be dismissed with a $20 dismissal fee upon proof that the item was renewed within 10 working days of the date you were cited.

What if I am cited while borrowing a car?
If you are cited while driving a borrowed car with expired registration or inspection, you are responsible for the citation and must either pay the full amount or provide proof that the owner corrected the discrepancy along with $20 for the dismissal.

How can I keep a citation off my record?
If you have not taken a driving safety course within the past 12 months, you may request to do so to keep the citation off of your driving record.
You may also request probation and pay an administrative fee to keep the citation off of your driving record.

What is included in the citation payment?
When you pay a citation, the amount includes a fine, court costs, and state taxes.

What authority does the judge have?
The judge has the authority to set your fine up to $200 on a transportation code violation, up to $500 for failure to maintain financial responsibility, up to $500 for Texas Penal Code offenses, and up to $2,000 for municipal court ordinance violations; and his decision is made on a case by case basis depending on the circumstances surrounding the offense.

Can I get an extension to pay for my citation?
If you need time to pay your citation, you may appear before the judge. To obtain a court date you must appear at the court office within 20 business days of your citation date.
What happens if I don’t take care of a Class "C" misdemeanor?
A Class "C" Misdemeanor is a fine-only offense, but if you don’t take care of it, or fail to uphold the terms of agreement you make with the judge…you can be jailed.
