EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

POSITION:Water Maintenance
SALARY: $24440.00 yr.

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs heavy manual labor and competently operates light and heavy equipment associated with water construction and maintenance activities; participates in utilities field activities in a safe and effective manner; and performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Execute safe and effective methods in field activities; participates in the planning and execution of water maintenance and construction activities; routinely maintains vehicles and equipment; performs a shift of Standby; loads, unloads and installs pipe, valves, fire hydrants weighing between 50-200 pounds; frequently exposed to chemical hazards including chlorine gases; stacks and sorts meters, fittings, pipe and valves weighing between 10-200 pounds; changes and loads 90-235 pound chlorine bottles; climbs in and out of trenches shoveling, installing and inspecting services; exposed to natural gas services and mains; ensures the reliability of the systems well pumping and water supply.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
May be required to participate in but not limited to, electrical, painting, carpentry, masonry, welding, wastewater, street and drainage projects; must utilize auditory, sensory abilities constantly on the jobsite; makes on-site decisions on work procedure frequently. Works a shift of Standby, having met TCEQ and City of Richland Hills requirements.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES
High School Diploma or G.E.D.; CDL with good record; Class ‘D’ Water Certification within one (1) year of hire. Optional for advancement: Obtain Class ‘C’ Water Certification within three (3) years of obtaining Class ‘D’.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Experience in operation and/or maintenance and/or construction of water and/or sewer system preferred. Experience in routine maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment preferred. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to perform heavy manual labor under adverse conditions; ability to execute safe and effective utility's techniques in all activities.
