Subject: CDBG Project 37th Year

The CDBG 37th year project approved last spring by Tarrant County Commissioners included the reconstruction of Reeves and Henry Drives to include the removal and replacement of curb, gutter, driveways, and paving of each street. This is the first year that the city has had a project in this CDBG area. Attached, are the plans and specifications for this project. The estimated total  cost for the reconstruction of Reeves and Henry is $296,300.00. The city only receives approx. $85,000/ year to spend on projects which means that to construct this project will take 3-4 years using CDBG funding assuming the allocation does not decrease or increase. Also, because of the reduced funding the Mayor’s Council Ranking Committee recommended funding the projects in alternate years. This is explained in Patricia Ward’s, CDBG Director, memo attached.

This year RH’s funding allocation is $105,681.00. The project will be constructed as far as funding will allow. The consultant, staff, and CDBG project manager will decided on where to stop this project’s based on bid prices, location of stopping point, traffic flow safety, and accessibility for the resident. Therefore, please place the CDBG 37th Year project on the council’s January 10, 2012 agenda to approve the plans and specifications for the reconstruction of Reeves St. and Henry Dr. Please contact me if you have any questions.
