Subject: Labadie Reconstruction - Design Phase
Attached is a design contract from Dick Perkins, P.E., who designed Willman Ave., Dover Ln., and Richland Rd. The project is the same type as Willman but approx. 400’ longer. The project consisted of Tarrant County crews removing the curb and gutter, driveways , and valley gutters and Reliable Paving constructing all concrete work. Reliable Paving has the annual contract with Tarrant County which RH uses under the local agreement with Tarrant County. The city council approved the agreement with Tarrant County at the October 11, 2011 council meeting.
Tarrant County has requested to start removing the curb and gutter in mid February 2012 so Reliable Paving can start installing the curb and gutter. It will take Reliable Paving 45-60 days to install the curb and gutter. The county plans to start stabilizing the subgrade and overlay Labadie with asphalt in May or when Reliable completes the curb and gutter whichever comes first.
The proposed engineering design contract is an amount not to exceed $19,750.00. This amount includes $5,950.00 for design surveying, $4,200.00 for construction staking and 9,600.00 for engineering design. If the grades slopes are above minimum for curb and gutter the cost for construction surveying may not be used. However, at this time the cost needs to be left in the contract.
This project was included in the 2011-2012 budget year and is anticipated to cost an estimated $140,000.00 to $150,000.00 to include construction, surveying, and engineering. Therefore, please place this contract on the council’s December 13, 2011 agenda for their consideration. Please contact me if you have any questions.
