Attached are the staff memo, Ordinance, and draft agenda language for the City to opt out the Goods-In-Transit/Super Freeport exemption at the Tuesday, December 13, 2011 City Council Meeting. The notice for the public hearing is set for publication in the November 29, 2011 Star Telegram.
HOLD PUBLIC HEARING TO RECIVE PUBLIC INPUT ON OPTING OUT OF THE “GOODS-IN-TRANSIT” EXEMPTION – Hold a public hearing to receive public comment on amending the Richland Hills City Code by adding a new section 78-64 “Goods In Transit”, providing for the ad valorem taxation of tangible personal property in transit or “Super Freeport” goods pursuant to section 11.253 of the Texas Tax Code, for Tax Year 2012 and for every year thereafter;

APPROVE ORIDANCE OPTING OUT OF “GOODS-IN-TRANSIT” EXEMPTION – Discuss and consider approval of an ordinance amending the Richland Hills City Code by adding a new section 78-64 “Goods In Transit”, providing for the ad valorem taxation of tangible personal property in transit or “Super Freeport” goods pursuant to section 11.253 of the Texas Tax Code, for Tax Year 2012 and for every year thereafter; and providing for this ordinance to take immediate effect.
