Subject: Creek Trail Street Lights Repairs
On 10-28-2011 a report to the Police Department was made concerning the vandalism of all street light wiring in Creek Trail Park(CTP). Consequently, public works staff requested 3 contractors to submit proposals for the rewiring of all the street lights in CTP. Attached, are the three bids received: 1) Ed’s Electric., 2) Powersource Electric Co.(PECI), and 3) Cable Electric, Inc.
A breakdown of bids received is as follow:

IIB = Included In Base Bid
The low Base Bid is PECI at $16,446.52 because Ed’s Electric did not included in his base of bid $17,185.00 the cost of the circuit to the pavilion and PECI did. Therefore, comparing the same work to each bidder PECI is the low base bid. It is not known at this time if the wiring from the base of the pole to the top is required or not. This unit cost per pole is included in case any or all wiring in the pole(s) is required, provided the project is funded. If all 15 poles need rewiring from the base to the top and the circuit to the pavilion is included the total amount would be $20,820.12. Staff’s recommendation would be to award the lowest bid in the amount of $20,820.12 to PECI in case the funds are required. Staff will submit a report to the city manager when all work is completed detailing the final amount of alternate bids used.
This item is not funded in the 2011-2012 budget. Please place this item on the council’s agenda for December 13, 2011 for their consideration. Please contact me if you have any questions.
