On January 11, 2011 the council approved a contract with RJN Group, Inc. in the amount of $85,164.00 to perform Manhole Inspection and Smoke Testing (MI&ST) for the southwest sewer shed. This area was selected because of the high sewer flows received in calendar year 2010. This project has been completed and the results have been evaluated by staff and White Rock Consulting (WRC), President Rod Thornhill, P.E., who was selected by staff and approved by council in 2010 because of his many years of experience in elimination of infiltration and inflow (I/I) into sewer lines.
Attached, is an outline of the results of the MI&ST project that was completed earlier this month. Mr. Thornhill, and staff will present and discuss the results of the project and the next step planned in reducing I/I into the city’s sewer system. Therefore, please place on the council’s July 12, 2011 agenda for White Rock Consulting and staff to discuss and review the results of the Manhole Inspection and Smoke Testing and discuss recommended actions.
