On June 9, 2011 staff received bids for the replacement of the outside wall covering around the Library. Attached, is the bid tabulation for this project. The two bids received were Hutcherson Construction, Inc. (HCI) and Pete Durant & Associates, Inc. (PDA). The bid documents were divided into a base bid and two alternate bids. The base bid included removing and replacing the Library exterior wall surface as per the plans and specifications. Also included in the base bid was a $20,000.00 allowance for misc. improvements. The bid allowance provided unit costs for the exterior wall, studs, or batt insulation should these items need replacing during the removal of the exterior wall.
The first alternate was for misc. roof improvements, as per plans and specifications, was included due to previous roof leaks. The second alternate was to remove and replace the south side emergency door and frame which is very poor condition.
Staff is recommending to award the base bid, and alternate bids 1 & 2 at the low bid amount of $132,366.00 submitted by Pete Durant & Associates. Therefore, please place on the council’s June 28, 2011 agenda to award the low bid to Pete Durant & Associates in the amount of $132,366.00 for the renovation of the Library’s exterior wall.
