City Council item request for the first meeting in June, June 14, 2011.

PRESENTATIONS/RECOGNITIONS -- Consider recognizing and presenting awards to the following:

A) Mayor Ragan to recognize Economic Development Specialist Matt Shaffstall for being awarded the Texas Economic Development Council’s 2010 Certificate of Achievement for Economic Excellence for utilizing economic development best practices for its use of the Economic Re-Development Plan and commitment to the economic development process with a focus on Business Retention & Expansion, Business Attraction & Recruitment, Entrepreneurism and Tourism.

The City of Richland Hills has been awarded the Texas Economic Development Council’s 2010 Certificate of Achievement for Economic Excellence.  The award is given to economic development agencies that meet the scoring criteria for a desired threshold of professionalism and use of best practice in the field of economic development.  The City of Richland Hills is recognized for its use of the Economic Re-Development Plan and commitment to the economic development process with a focus on Business Retention & Expansion, Business Attraction & Recruitment, Entrepreneurism and Tourism. Richland Hills was one of the 23 winners in the State, and one the 4 winners in Tarrant County.  This is the city’s second year in a row to receive the award.
