This position performs a variety of customer service, data gathering, office work, and facility cleaning. The Recreation Leaders will primarily be responsible for meeting customer needs, including answering the phone, greeting walk-ins, touring perspective memberships, passing along program and facility information, and assisting with rentals. Additionally, Leaders will be assisting the management team certain aspects of operations.
Essential Job Functions:
Effectively communicate with external customers about the Link, its memberships, programs, events, and amenities. The Leaders will also know the policy and procedures and be able to follow and enforce them with consistency and tact.
Facilitates membership signups, program registration and rental reservation with efficiency through the Link’s operational software. Accurately manages transactions with customers while following all cash handling procedures.
Assists with maintaining a clean and safe recreation center facility. While janitorial work is not the specific job duty of any particular employee, each member of the staff will be expected to assist in the cleanliness and safety of the Link and its internal and external amenities. Leaders will do building walk-throughs to visually ensure the Link is in good order.
Helps management staff with room set-up and clean-up, including table and chairs stacking and unstacking. Also during events and rentals, leaders will continue communication with renter to ensure their expectations are met.
Serves all customers in a polite and enthusiastic manner, and manages any conflict or misunderstanding with customers. Serving customers and citizens includes welcoming individuals, learning members’ names, answering the phone promptly, collecting and handing out equipment, responding to or getting help for answering a customer or citizens’ need or concern.
Leaders will help management staff with delegated duty in order to provide higher level service or quality of programs.

Education and Experience:
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional field. Knowledge and maturity for this position is normally acquired through four years of high school or completion of a GED program. Preferred education would include two years of college. Preferred experience in person-to-person customer service, cash handling, and/or in recreation or a related field.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Recreation Leaders must have positive personalities and like working in a team environment. The team has a variety of duties and therefore each member of the team helps assist others with their job tasks from time to time.
Need to have the ability to continually be helpful to all manner of individuals, despite some interactions include a disagreeable situation. Workers must remember that some contacts may involve stressful, negative interactions with the public requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions.
This position normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties.
Link employees dress, act and speak as educated professionals, regardless of position. The facility strives for high service levels
Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays; mobility within an office and field environment. Must be able to be proficient in operational software program used at the Link. Employees will be trained, but each employee must be able to keep up with the speed of service.
Licenses and Certificates:
Valid driver’s license with good driving record and ability to maintain while employed. CPR/AED/First Aid certifications preferred; must get within 6 months of employment.
Work performed in clean surroundings, does not usually subject employee to any disagreeable elements other than outside temperatures during summer/winter events; requires little physical effort in working with light, easy to handle materials (up to 20 lbs.) with occasional lifting of object weighing 50 lbs; walking, standing, reaching are part of the physical demands of this position. Customer service positions are done mostly from a standing position.
